 Quick update, If you don’t know, I am no longer in Milwaukee WI…  The move was actually a pretty big deal for my family.  For the past 3 years we’ve had the opportunity to call Milwaukee and some of it’s dopiest residents home.  And yet as the pressures of parenthood began to mount and the realities that accompany aging family members, it became increasingly heavy on hearts to consider returning to my home, Elbow city (Lansing Slang).

     As mentioned earlier, we felt that it was well to move.  Notice I use the term “well.”  That is simply because I still struggle to embrace the term “calling”.  Since my freshman year of college I have said, “I am called to live and serve in Lansing MI.”  Yet moving here has revealed to me that moving home is never as sexy as you think it is when you are a way, and that God may not be as concerned with “where you are” but more “how you are.”  My Milwaukee fam will tell you that my wife and I were broken, in our search to discern where God was leading us.  We prayed, fasted, read devotion after devotion,  set in hours of prayer meetings to try to hear where and what God was calling us to.   And yet  God spoke, but I’m not sure he said much about the arbitrary boundaries that we call states.

   After all of my toil, I believe I have learned that God is deeply invested in the work we are doing right now.  We are called to be his body and serve his creation, right now.  Check it out,  I know a lot of us are in places in our lives where we’ve got to make some pretty big decisions (that word is super difficult to spell) with some humongous implications.  And we may find ourselves super stressed out about whether to go or stay, but I think that God is less concerned about our absolute location and more concerned about if we are absolutely down for his movement (you see that, that’s slick).  Some to my transitory millennials peep this.  If you gone go, go but find church a community where the love justice seek mercy and walk humbly with God.  If you gone stay, stay and and find a fellowship where they love  the least of these.  God’s calling for your life begins right now right here……
